The whole shoot

• Only two angles exist: across and straight.03

• Favor the angles that look at the window.03

• Shoot a whole area, then cull. This speeds up your workflow and keeps you from overly judging your photos. Sometimes you feel like you're getting terrible angles and there are no better ones to get. It's not always you. Sometimes the home itself is a little off, and if the staging is a bit off too, that throws everything off.04 · 07

• Finish one space before moving to the next: all of the kitchen, then dining, then living.06

• Some spaces always get shot, even when they look bad: the garage, EV chargers, walk-in closets. Two or three frames tell the story.08 · 11 · 12 · 14 · 16 · 17

• Everything you move, your stuff, their stuff, the agent's staging or marketing materials, goes into one pile. This way nothing gets forgotten at the end of the shoot, and you can place everything back exactly where it was.09

• Every time you arrive at a new shoot or switch lenses, check the glass for dust, fingerprints, and smudges, and recheck every couple of minutes while you shoot. Carry a lens blower and a cloth. Blowers are for dust, cloths are for smudges.10

• Garage door won't close? It's probably the sensor. See whether anything is blocking it. If there is, move it. If there isn't, try brushing off the sensor itself, then try closing it again.13

• Vacant homes: shoot where the furniture would sit and favor straight on. Virtual staging loves a straight on shot.15
